Stonecraft Design will carry out work from renovating headstones
to civic monuments and create simple yet practical up to the most
ornate memorials, commemorative plaques to house nameplates and
bird baths to sundials. In fact any work connected with the shaping
and carving of stone and slate.
The largest sundial made by Stonecraft Design was designed
by Sir Mark Lennox Boyd and commissioned by Mr Geoffrey Thompson
of the Blackpool Pleasure Beach. This 3.61 metre high Green
Slate Millennium Sun Dial stands proudly in the centre of the
Pleasure Beach at Blackpool.
Stonecraft Design's work can be found up & down the country
from Highgate Cemetery, London to Parkgate, Dumfries.
Locally, from the west coast at Whitehaven through the Tribute
Wall at the Theatre by the Lake, Keswick to Appleby Station
on the Carlisle to Settle railway.
Our memorial work can also be seen in many cemeteries and churchyards
throughout Cumbria.
We work in ANY STONE and are happy to advise on the use
and qualities of the many variations and types from different
quarries and locations.
We use Lakeland slate from the Burlington and Kirkstone
quarries.
